An experiment with interdimensional transport to Mars was supposed to return to Earth a year later. It finally shows up, several years later, containing a Martian and Dr. Curtis. Sterne, his partner, grows angry because Dr. Curtis’ return signifies all Sterne’s plans are ruined.
