It seems that Jim Corbett’s loneliness is over when he marries Lyla. When Lyla disappears Jim tells Matt that a party of Indians abducted her. Foul play is suspected when Matt sees a newly planted garden of columbines near Jim’s house, especially since Jim’s first wife also disappeared.
