Our Presenter for this week is Daniel Vejil. Let us read what Daniel will be playing.

To Mr. john beaulieu And All Fans Of Thursday Evening’s OTR,

For one of his long ago MSS Presentations, “Rick The Rotten One”, decided to play for us, something from the “Witch’s Tale”, entitled “The Bronze Venus”.

While the story itself was excellent, there were complaints from some of that night’s Audience, because the Audio Quality was poor in places, diminishing their ability to understand and enjoy the broadcast.

It did have the benefit, however, of reminding me that I had once heard a similar Radio Drama, first aired on April 30, 1974, produced by the “CBS Radio Mystery Theater”. Though in this incarnation, it’s called “The Venus d’ Ile”, the story remains essentially the same.

MS. Joy Jackson has been of tremendous assistance in providing me with a better audio copy of this show, than the one I could find on-line. She also has provided me with some background audio which should enhance my Introductory and Closing Material, so you could call this presentation, a real MSS Crew Effort.

From Mr. Daniel Vejil

If you’re a regular brunch With The Brits listener, when the host can put up a show then you know we’re slowly working our way through John Galls worthy’s The Forsyte Chronicles. This is a mammoth saga of a family love cruelty and the bonds of family togetherness starting in Victorian England and working through multiple generations. this week on Cruising if your a Galsworthy fan we’ll be looking at Justice one of his early plays. Justice is the story of the British justice system and how while its goal is to reform more often it hardens people as they lose hope. It has a wonderful cast featuring Nigel Bruce as a kindly law clerk. As you listen to Justice ask yourself does this also happen today in our own criminal system? Also be sure and listen to the end of the show for a very special announcement from the host about his life and his future. Enjoy.

We have lots of comedy and variety on this evenings show.
We begin with Mail Call.
this was an Armed Forces show during the war years. Bing Crosby is the master of ceremonies with an all star cast.
Featured are Fred Astair, Betty Rhodes, Fibber McGee and Molly plus themusic of meridith Wilson.
the show is dated 11/04/1942
Our final show was an audition from 05/28/48 and its title comes from the hit movie Meet Me In St. Louie.
Margaret whiting introduces the show.
The cast includes: Norma Jean Nilsson, Gale Gordon, Robert Soderberg (writer), Henry Garson (writer), Walter Schumann (music director), Henry Garson (producer, director),
Lois Moran, Betsy Blair, Rosa Williams, Edwin Mills, William Johnstone, Henrietta Tedrow, Eric Lord, Russell Bates (?), Ken Peters (announcer).
It was one of two auditions I know of and I don’t think the show actually went beyond the audition process.

Our Presenter for this week is Rick Spurgeon. Let us read what Rick will be playing.

This time around it’s part one of the story of mid-America’s 50,00 watt blowtorch. If you’ve heard it before or aren’t interested in WJR, don’t tune out because as you listen to the narrative, by substituting names and events from your favorite radio station you’ll find the powerful story of radio’s birth and development is really universal. I can almost guarantee emotions and memories will be triggered. An incredible amount of our lives has transpired during this time before AM radio entered its dotage.
