Our Presenter for this week is a dear friend, danny Goodwin who will be playing his tenth Commercial Corner for us. Let us see what Dannny has to say about his presentation

Hello Bob:

Now that we have finally got rid of the winter season (at least on the calendar), I have another COMMERCIAL CORNER program ready. This is actually a repeat of the first COMMERCIAL CORNER I presented concerning the changes of the radio commercials during the golden age (titled “Radio Commercials 1920’s-1960’s-Another Look”. The only difference is the material I’m using is different from the first, and I hope a little more polished.

Thank you.

Danny Goodwin

Our Presenter for this week is Matt Cox who will be playing some great shows. Let us see what Matt has to say about his presentation.

It’s been a long time since Cruising the Classics has been heard and
I’m pleased to say that it will be nice to be back March 31st in the
Bertelsen Room at 9 pm Eastern 6 pm Pacific. This week we’ll be
looking at the NBC University Theater again and from April 9 1950
we’ll be listening to “The Nazareen,” by Shalom Ash. The Book was
written in 1939 and tells the story from three different prspectives
of the last days of Jesus. The book was originally written in
Yiddish and with some masterful work done by Ernest Kenoi is well
translated and preserved.

This time on Rotten Ricky At The Radio it’s a sister act. Actually it’s a double Singleton. Penny Singleton leads off our presentation as Blondie, a character she virtually owned in movies, television and, of course, radio. After visiting the Bumsteads, an early example of what today we would call a semi-disfunctional family, we turn to sister Doris whose career was mainly in movies, but there was a smattering of radio roles. We’ll hear her in one of our favorite police shows, Broadway Is My Beat. So what di you say we get together for some silly fun and then some good drama? You know we’d miss you if you’re not there.

Our Host for this week is Joy Jackson. Let us read what she will be playing for us.

Did you know there were other radio shows in which African Americans were portrayed as someone other than a valet, like Rochester in Jack Benny or a maid like Birdie in the Great Gildersleeve? Although both of those characters were firmly in charge of their situations. In honor of Martin Luther King, whose day we celebrated this month, Joy will share a couple of shows based on American history that will really surprise you. And she will share a special story. Come have a listen.
